Clean-Burning, Safe and Ultra-Efficient Bioheat for All Customers

As a testament to our deep commitment to the environment, we’re proud to announce that we now deliver Bioheat® fuel to all of our customers instead of traditional heating oil.

Bioheat is the industry’s official registered name for the fuel that consists of a blend of ultra-low sulfur heating oil with renewable biodiesel that’s made from organic and recycled products. These products can range from soybean oil, used cooking oils, inedible corn oil, canola, tallow, fats and algae.

This fuel is perfectly compatible to your heating system and no modifications are necessary.

Blends of biodiesel in heating oil are designated in percentages. For example, a 5% blend of biodiesel is defined as B5. B10 refers to a 10% blend, while B20 is a 20% blend.

This year, Lawman’s increased the percentage of biodiesel in our Bioheat blend to 20%. This is important because studies have shown that B20 Bioheat burns cleaner than natural gas because it generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

Why is ultra-low sulfur Bioheat so important?

The combination of continually improving ultra-low sulfur Bioheat with increasingly efficient heating oil systems will help homeowners with oil heat save significant money on their heating bills. At the same time, their homes will be on the path to becoming carbon-neutral.

Last year, leaders from the Northeast’s heating oil industry unanimously passed a resolution to achieve net-zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for heating oil by 2050. This means oil heat will eventually have a carbon footprint of zero. The resolution calls for a 15% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, based on 1990 levels, by 2023, and a 40% reduction by 2030.

To achieve the targets outlined by the resolution, every heating oil retailer in the Northeast must adopt increasing blends of Bioheat with clean, ultra-low sulfur fuel. To achieve the 2030 target, the standard Bioheat fuel blend must be at least B20 like Lawman’s.

We hope this news makes you feel good about using oil heat—and choosing Lawman’s as your dependable supplier.
